I have to create a density ';toy'; in which objects float in their appropriate locations: object 1 should float at the top, object 2 should float on the bottom liquid (meaning in between the two liquids), and object 3 should sink to the bottom. Sounds like a trick question...rubbing alcohol (80/20 isopropanol/water) is miscible with water, so no definite line of separation is formed.
If you are not limited to alcohol and water, let me know and we will work out a suitable liquid pair.What object will float in between rubbing alcohol and water?
Is this a real experiment? Just experiment to find one that will sink in one liquid but float in the other. It shouldn't be too hard.
